Design Kit is IDEO.org’s open source how-to guide to practicing human-centered design. It consists of of a field guide text book and website filled with methods and mindsets for innovative problem solving. Since its launch in 2014, Design Kit has supported a global community of more than one million creative problem-solvers in over 200 countries.
In 2023, IDEO.org launched a fundraising campaign to re-release Design Kit for the next era of impact, with updates that are reflective of how design and design tools have changed in the last decade. I designed the campaign, which involved updated the Design Kit brand to make it more vibrant and relevant in today’s landscape of design methodologies.
Design Kit is a widely known and much loved platform that relies heavily on a visual language of simple vector illustrations. I updated the illustration style to be more detailed and colorful, adding whimsy, texture, higher contrast, and more complex environments. The design of this campaign was a quick project intended to be a sneak peek into how the brand will show up when the re-release rolls out.
