Pickering Supply Co.

branding | web design | social media strategy

2024, California

For Pickering Supply Co., a local Sonoma County based business that sells winemaking supplies to winemakers, I designed a logo with custom typography and illustration. Under new ownership, Pickering came to me with a cheeky new url (winerystuff.com) and a goal to update their brand to bring the craft of winemaking to younger audiences without alienating any of their older generation clients.

For this logo mark I leaned into Pickering’s appreciation for funky retro typography, with a nod to a classic hand drawn aesthetic. The illustration features a hand picking grapes with the palm stained purple, a hallmark of most winemakers’ experience. Twisty grapevines double as an underline for the typography. We retained the traditional wine industry purple of their old logo while also introducing a color pop of orangey red to help them stand out in the sea of other winemaker brands.

Included in this project was designing the digital face of the brand, from the website design to social media presence. Keeping with the free spirit of the logo, subtle movement is a key piece of how the brand is experience digitally, in the arrhythmic sensory movement of the video bumpers and in the scrolling wavy typography on the website. I created the content strategy for their Instagram posts and brought it to life through templates designed in Canva to be utilized by their comms intern.

Check out the website.

And (of course) we designed some fun swag for Pickering Supply Co. to give away at their winery visits, including hats, t-shirts, and the cutest little flashlight.
